Takamaro Kikkawa received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electronic engineering from Shizuoka University, Shizuoka, Japan, in 1974 and 1976, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in 1994 in electronic system from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan.
He joined NEC Corporation, Tokyo, Japan in 1974, where he has conducted the research and development on the interconnect technologies for logic ULSI and DRAM. From 1983 to 1984 he has been a visiting scientist and studied on SOI transistors at Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the guidance of Prof. Dimitri Antoniadis. In 1998, he joined the faculty of Hiroshima University, Hiroshima, Japan. He was appointed as Senior Research Scientist at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology and served as a group leader of Low-k/Interconnect Technology of Japan’s National Project called “MIRAI “ in 2001-2005.
He is currently Professor of the Graduate School of Advanced Sciences of Matter, and Director of the Research Institute for Nanodevice and Bio Systems, Hiroshima University, Hiroshima, Japan. He is Councilor of Hiroshima University.
His research interests are impulse-radio UWB-CMOS circuits, on-chip antennas and integrated systems for breast cancer detection as well as low-k/Cu interconnect technologies.
He is appointed as Guest Professor of Tianjin University, Tianjin, China. He is a technical program committee member of IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference.
He is Fellow of the IEEE, and Fellow of Japan Society of Applied Physics.
