Functional-Memory Architectures for Information-Processing SystemsHans Jurgen Mattausch、小出哲士、上口 光、Anwarul Md Abedin
The analysis of information processing systems reveals that the necessary data exchange between memory and
processing parts represents a major limiting factor for their performance, preventing the realization of Tera-bit
information processing. Therefore, innovations are required for substantially improving this data exchange to the
Tera-bit per second (Tbps) range and for achieving Tera-Operation-Per-Second (TOPS) processing power. The
main investigated methods for achieving these goals are an increased memory-access bandwidth by multi-porting
of the memory as well as the unification of memory and processing parts of the information-processing system.
This report presents the developed solutions for realizing Tera-bit information processing with both methods of
functional memory architectures.
